Shirdi, Ajanta and Ellora, Maharashtra: plan a photo visit

Temple lights and rock-cut interiors are the focus of this journey. These are separate destinations: give each a dedicated day and allow for transfers.

Suggested time: four or more days. Open destination map

Key sights and photo ideas
  • Shirdi — Plan the temple visit around current official arrangements.
  • Ajanta Caves — Allow an unhurried visit to the cave halls and paintings.
  • Ellora Caves — Study the different rock-cut architectural spaces and carved details.
A suggested itinerary
  1. Day 1: visit Shirdi and stay locally or make a separately planned transfer.
  2. Day 2: transfer and settle around Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Day 3: Ajanta. Day 4: Ellora, with a later departure or another night.
Travel and photography tips
  • Confirm different weekly closures and entry arrangements before fixing the sequence.
  • Follow no-flash and interior photography rules.
  • Use a steady camera and available light rather than touching walls or carvings.
