Lansdowne, Uttarakhand: plan a photo visit

Quiet lanes, old churches and layered hills make Lansdowne well suited to short walks. Take fewer stops slowly and leave the clearest part of the day for a viewpoint.

Suggested time: one or two days. Open destination map

Key sights and photo ideas
  • Tip-in-Top — Look for layered mountain ridges from the designated viewpoint.
  • St Mary’s Church — Photograph the heritage exterior and surrounding trees where permitted.
  • Bhulla Tal — Finish with a lakeside stroll and garden details.
A suggested itinerary
  1. Morning: visit Tip-in-Top and the nearby church area.
  2. After lunch: walk at Bhulla Tal, with an optional second morning for clearer hill views.
Travel and photography tips
  • Respect cantonment signs and photography restrictions.
  • Hazy weather is a good reason to focus on leaves and building details.
  • Arrange the hill-road transfer from Kotdwar with time to spare.
